Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Hope to go Aug 2024 using 2-4-1 in Bus class (or first!!)

Looking at the BA site utter confusion

There are no ‘avios’ seats on any flights outbound in 2024 and only inbound for first two weeks in Aug ( i suppose this is the 355 day rule) but they they show flights with changes in Doha with Qatar. Are the 2-4-1 valid on these flights

    Is the Route that popular????

had a back up plan but using more airmiles that i would like by going outbound on Cathay and inbound 2-4-1 voucher BA

However i cnnot see how many avios and what additional charges, i need to pay for each leg

Or am i getting paranoid and totally inept at using the BA site…lol

    Yes it is.

If you are willing to fly from a regional airport there many be extra availability.

241 Voucher not valid on Qatar. You could possibly save some Avios by using a BA return to Doha and a separate redemption on Qatar from Doha to HK?

HKIA is so well connected I’ve been happy to route through it at the expense of several hours to an overall trip. If you have status, the Cathay lounges make it a bleeding obvious hub. So, yeah, it’s popular.

Yes. Anyone wanting to get to Asia using their 2-4-1 will be fighting for seats on HKG or SIN as these are two places that are great hubs for getting elsewhere, especially since KL and Bangkok have ended. You’re also competing with Asia Miles collectors in HK as Cathay is notoriously stingy with releasing seats out of HK

I think the miles will be the same – 100k off peak or 110k peak each way. Unless it has changed though there will be very little availability and Asia Miles can book at 360 days out IIRC so get a head start on Avios users
