I would like to apply for the Amex Platinum card but cannot see from my Amex account how long ago I last held a card that will prevent me from getting the bonus avios. All my previous expired/cancelled cards do not show on my account. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

You need to call Amex to be 100% certain. Even if think you know, if its marginal then always worth checking as your card may not be closed on the exact day you asked for it to be closed.
I have the free credit check thing offered by Moneysupermarket. There are many others do this. I find this vaguely helpful for other reasons also.
Under closed accounts it shows all my old cards with the date the account was closed. These dates look right to me.
