Hi All
Apologies if this has been answered but how would I check for the extra voucher availability without a voucher on my account?
Specifically this would be for London to Tenerife on the 19th December 2024 (one way only)
Stupidly we booked the inbound using the voucher without checking the outbound (don’t ask!)
And yes I am aware this is not the best use of the voucher but between two of us we expect two more of them next year and have a seperate voucher flight to Tokyo already booked… So be kind please 🙂
Thank you in advance
You can’t do it yourself, you need to ask someone to check for you.
Just had a look, nothing on 19th even with voucher. Closest is indirect on 18th via Madrid (BA0458/IB1577) 4 economy seats, no business
Are you sure the extra availability applies to CE as well as CW? I thought it was just CW, but could be wrong.
If so, you need to either call BA and they can look, or another reader might be able to search for you with an existing voucher.
I’ve just spotted your major problem here – you can’t add an “outbound” leg on a 241 booking. The first sector you booked is considered to be the outbound, so to use the other half of the voucher you’d need to book LHR-TFS (or similar route which complied with the open jaw rules) to be flown at a later date.
Amex vouchers are not my area of expertise, but surely it’s a cancel and rebook scenario – subject to availability of course, which may be why the question was asked.
Cancel and rebook may be an option, however at this stage there’s no guarantee the cancelled seats would go back into the inventory. And it doesn’t solve the issue of outbound availability.
Thank you everyone for the responses! Very helpful and I had anticipated we would need to buy a seat for the outbound anyway. I might gamble for a couple of weeks and see if anything opens up
@Jipster – as per my comment above, you’re not going to be able to add an outbound leg to this booking, even if reward seats become available.

Is it correct that you can’t add an outbound these days?? I have done this in the past and wasn’t aware anything had changed, but it may have done. The itinerary will reprice but doesn’t cause you to have to cancel/rebook and potentially lose your return seats. The terms stipulate that outbound and return must be booked together but that isn’t currently observed.
In the very long thread on booking the return there are several examples where people have tried to do this and been told that it’s not possible, as booking the intended inbound leg first, with the voucher, means that BA classes that as the start of the trip, not the end.
There’s one instance where an agent has done this but it seems to have been an aberration. Of course there’s nothing to stop the OP asking, however I think the risk to bear in mind is that it’s the week before Xmas and there are currently no seats to be had in either cabin, for obvious reasons!
