Forums Other Destination advice How many days for a Barbados fly and flop?

  • ExpatInBerlin 227 posts

Have promised to take my mum to Barbados for a winter sun fly and flop late 2023/early 2024. Any recommendations on the minimum number of nights to make it worth it please? Was thinking of maxing out only taking 5 days AL and doing a Friday – Sunday 9 night stay. Neither of us have been to Barbados before so we want to do some exploring but for the most part just relax with a book on the beach.

9 nights is a decent length stay – long enough to relax and do a few activities. If you take a long time to recover from jet lag, like me, you may feel like it’s not long enough though!

Not Barbados but when we could only do 8 nights in St Lucia (+ one on the plane back) we were surprised to discover that, whilst we could have happily stayed for longer (and would like to go back someday), it didn’t feel too short.

We do half term trips to the Caribbean a fair bit. If you are fairly jet lag resistant and sleep on the way back it’s great for a week. Barbados has more things “to do” than most islands though TBH that just means 2 days sightseeing rather than 1! But if you enjoy the water and the beach, it’s great.

Thanks all, really appreciate the insight (and relieved to hear 9 nights is sufficient!)

Went about 6 years ago and stayed 11 days. 9 days would have been fine. To be fair, 7 days would have been plenty if you like to hit the ground running. I spent about every other day exploring and saw most things I wanted to.

If you’re going to Barbados to just spend time on a beach and eat at nice restaurants then you are missing the best of the Island. The beaches are amazing, but there is plenty more as well.
