Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club I have 65,000 points that I need to use up in two months

Long story short my wife and I are expecting and would like one final trip before June, to make up for our lost honeymoon (house got robbed on the night of my wedding and spending money on a trip was the last thing on my mind financially).

I know the avios point for flights is quite confusing, so I was wondering if anyone could help?

Any particular places you want to go? Presumably for two in Europe? I presume you don’t have a BA 2-4-1 voucher? A bit more detail may help us advise

At this stage you’ll need to settle for what’s available but 65k avios plus £50 each is enough to get you return flights to all but the furthest short haul destinations that BA flies to in Club Europe.
So southern Europe if you want some sun, all the major European cities if that’s more your thing.
SeatSpy can show you at a glance roughly which destinations are available on your travel dates. Avoid May/June half term if you can!

Ideally somewhere tropical but I know I’m asking for a lot with the limited points and time I have left, but I’m happy to put cash towards it definitely if it means my wife has a good time!

    I don’t have a 2-4-1 voucher

Wow I can’t edit my first post but it turns out I actually have 130,000 points! Not 65,000!

Sharm el sheikh? I think ba has a good avios pricing for that destination.

Have you checked with your Mrs where she wants to go? Depending on how far along she is in her pregnancy it might affect how comfortable she will be in a hot, humid climate. It could be her worst nightmare. Likewise with a long flight, especially as it won’t be business class long haul. Also it can get complicated with travel insurance in case she goes into labour early if it’s the Caribbean due to it being USA prices.

    Just some thoughts.

If by tropical you mean somewhere like the Caribbean, the avios would get you economy flights so it depends how important the cabin you travel in us to you. Presumably comfort is going to be a priority for your wife?!
Which dates were you considering? Again, availability is going to be the main issue so close to the time.
What type of accommodation were you thinking of?

We’ve discussed this and seeing as she’s just entered her second trimester she’s OK travelling in normal, but I don’t mind coughing up a bit more for business.

By tropical I don’t mind east Asia etc.

I don’t think BA are flying much to Asia at the moment, you might get something on Qatar though.
If you’re using avios though, it’s still going to depend on availability so you need to pick destinations/dates and search. I don’t think QR give the option of paying more cash & less avios though, so you won’t have the option of just paying more to go in business class unless you upgrade at the airport.

Have you considered that amount of points will enable you as a family to have some very nice holidays in the future?

3 tickets are a lot more expensive than 2, and even more so in term time.

Looking forward to our 4th family holiday abroad in July school holidays thanks to short haul Avios redemptions.

Plus if you don’t plan on going till the new family member is a bit older you have time to boost that balance.

Cyprus/Greece would be my pick. Or Madeira. Guaranteed sun. And not too far from home like if you in the middle of Cambodia.
