Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Iberia tier points via partners for non ES residents

With the new Club Iberia Plus allowing up to 30% of tier points to be collected through avios partners, at a rate of 1 tier point per 10 avios collected, it seemed like a no brainer in comparison to the new BA system.
I had assumed it would be as simple as logging into the Avios.com portal with my new Iberia credentials and earning avios on purchases as I can now with BA. However it appears that avios.com is far from being the one stop shop for all avios earning FF schemes that I had always assumed it was, but rather a shopping portal exclusively for BA exec club.
I optimistically logged into the Club Iberia plus store hoping for a avios.com clone, as expected the Spanish storefronts of many well known brands which are of no use to a UK shopper. The surprising part however was the lack of Avios Hotels, car hire and other travel booking partners that could’ve been potential earners for someone outside of Spain. Agoda hotels being the only big name travel website present, GetYourGuide another known travel brand, but one I’d never see myself racking up a particularly large spend with.
Am I missing something or is the 30% tier points via partners perk virtually worthless if you’re outside Spain?

It looks tricky at the moment, yes. However until we see exactly what is included on 1st April it’s hard to be certain. I’m disappointed that Amex and hotel transfers don’t seem to count, especially as Iberia is getting a good chunk of cash for those.

Amex transfers counting would be great fun! That might make me reconsider my move to Finnair in the very unlikely event they brought that in.
