I’m headed to Paris for a weekend in July, weighing up my ambassador renewal versus cash rates at other hotels in the city.
Total quote using the Ambassador 241 rate is 1227 EUR (but I believe that the voucher covers only the cheapest night? In this case, 580 EUR).
1227 – 580EUR = 647 EUR (£570).
Ambassador renewal is currently 200 USD (£160) with 15K Points Bonus. As a Diamond I think I’ll collect approx 15K Points for the stay.
£570 Room Rate + £160 Ambassador Renewal – 30K Points (worth £180 @ HfP’s 0.6p calculation) = ~£550 for the 2 nights. Am I missing something?
FWIW, the cheapest Holiday Inn for that weekend is ~£200 per night.
The free night is the 2nd weekend night, so Sat if you book Fri/Sat or Fri/Sat/Sun, or Sun if you book Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon.
Don’t forget to factor in the upgrade, $20 F&B credit and 4pm check-out too.
Thanks Rob. This is for a Sat/Sun stay and the Sun is the cheaper of the two nights, unfortunately.
Is that $20 F&B credit per stay? I guess that just about buys me a pint!
What kind of upgrade may I expect from the entry-level room, with Diamond Ambassador? I gather that Diamond gets me free breakfast, but still no lounge access with Ambassador.
It will be €15 credit, per stay, not $20 converted.
You may get a double upgrade, one for Ambassador and one for Diamond, in which case it could be an upgrade to a King or Twin Premium room. You are correct about no lounge access with Ambassador.

You are correct about no lounge access with Ambassador. Le Grand normally has classic rooms with lounge access available using the Ambassador certificate for about 150 euros more than the entry level room, which would cover lounge access for two nights. This could make sense with Platinum, especially for two people, but perhaps less so for Diamonds with breakfast already included. It is a lovely lounge.

I was never offered double upgrade somehow.
