Anyone had a recent stay? Thinking of staying while on holiday with a 1 year old in May. Have Ambassador, and may or may not still be Diamond by then
This was the last trip we made pre-covid. Nice hotel, especially the rooms overlooking the Palace of Culture. As a Spire Ambassador (as it was) we were well looked after (3 level upgrade from memory). That said, it was a special occasion as my wife was being sworn in by the Ministry of Justice, and I let them know in advance.
The hotel restaurant was excellent.
The downside is the location. It’s not particularly central, and is a 30 minute walk from the old town. That said taxis were cheap.
I was there years ago – can’t vouch for the current condition but at the time it was a welcome bit of modernity from the older hotels in the city.
We stay every year for a couple of nights, on the way back from visiting the in-laws. It’s a perfectly agreeable hotel. They honour status and the rooms are all pleasant and pretty big. We managed to stay in the Presidential Suite on points, when IHG where having their IT gremlins.
Thanks! Sounds decent enough, then. From what I can tell location is OK – finding places for food, coffee etc nearby shouldn’t be hard – but, as you say, it’s a 30mins walk (or a cab ride) from many sight.
Pool decent there as well?
Pool is good. Great panoramic views of the city and surrounding area and not usually too busy.
As mentioned, a bit of a trek to the Old Town but there is a bus that will take you there, from outside the Palace of Culture or a taxi will do the job or if you’re happy to walk, it is a nice long-ish stroll.
Options for good food places is lacking in the vicinity. You’d need to either eat in the hotel or go to the Old Town.
Was here a few months ago. As a Diamond AMB I got a three tier upgrade and access to the lounge (I have a lounge pass.) Lounge is pretty great, they serve Malfi gin in Dry, Grapefruit and Lemon flavours in real gin glasses. Prosecco is served as the sparkling wine, alongside red and white. Food is to order and is bite sized, however they’re happy for more than one order and is of very good quality. I recommend the beef rib.
In the room you’ll get a platter, again of good quality (I had chocolate coated dates, nuts and fruit) and a bottle of red of reasonable quality (same bottle as they serve in the lounge.)
Breakfast in the lounge is also decent but not as expansive as downstairs and on my trip prior to my last they had a musician on the harp in the main restaurant at breakfast which provided a nice ambiance even though it was busy.
Pool and gym are good but are starting to show their age. That said, these areas do have sweeping views over Warsaw.
Only negative is that the hotel is starting to show it’s age in the rooms as well as the gyms but it is equally very well kept.
All in all, I think, bang for buck, it is one of the best IC’s in Europe.
