So myself a few friends are looking to go to India and watch one or two of England
Cricket matches that have just been announced. None of us have been to India, we shy away from organised tours and organise everything ourselves.

The cities where the games are being played are in Hyderabad, visakhapatnam, rajkot, ranchi and Dharmsala

Anyone who can offer any guidance as to what these cities offer would be great fully received and clues as to which airports to fly in to

    Thanks in advance

Dharamshala is the home of the Dalai Lama so expect lots of Buddhist awesomeness. It’s a great place to visit if a bit full of hippy backscratchers coming to ‘find themselves’. We stayed in Chonor House which was really charming. Take warm clothing as it’s chilly at night. It’s worth a couple of nights.

Hyderabad has BA flights from LHR, also Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways via their ME hubs.

IndiGo and SpiceJet offer internal flghts.

India has an early summer, it can get hot from March. I’d rule out Ranchi and Rajkot.
Dharmshala is a beautiful hill station near Kashmir. You might get lucky and meet Dalai Lama.
Hyderabad is a good mid sized city and has a lot to offer like forts and museums. Its airport is small and one of the best.
Vishakapatnam is a small city on the east coast with a beach and a day trip to hills on an old train. But not many luxury hotels and don’t have high expectations for the beach.
