Is Y out J back possible on one booking?

I’m 50 points shy of the next status level with Virgin, so planning a quick hop to AMS on KLM. I’d prefer to go Y out and J back (rather than the other way around) to use the KLM lounge at Schipol, but fare rules don’t seem to allow it. Does anyone know how to make it work other than two separate one way bookings (with associated extra cost)?

I’m assuming those fare rules are on 074 stock. You might find that 932 allows it (but you might not!), so assuming you get the same number of VS points, I’d call Flying Club and ask them to ticket it.

I’m not sufficiently up to speed with the lingo to understand what you mean…

Im assuming it’s a fare rule thing, but in reality I simply can’t book online – if outbound is in economy, the only options inbound are also in economy.

Use multi city booking on the KLM website. When you select economy as the 1st flight, and then get to the second screen it only shows economy options. BUT, once you’ve selected the time you want to fly, a big advert box pops up on the right offering business class, just click that.

And I thought this is how VS’ website did it, too.

My original point was, effectively, if you can’t get KLM to ticket it, have you tried VS, either on the website or by calling? Different fare rules.

I’m not getting the big advert box. Continued right through to entering passenger details and it was all economy, even when trying multi-city.

@AL, via VS wasn’t any help, it couldn’t find any flights from LHR to AMS! I know it can be temperamental, so I’ll try again tomorrow.

Figured it out. The outbound needs to be ‘Standard’ economy, whereas I was looking at ‘Light’.
