Hi guys,
Many thanks for the help regarding my post about the Amex and Barclays vouchers.
I am needing some guidance regarding some flights that I had booked with BA back in 2023, and have not been able to take these flights because of ill health. These are only short domestic flight to/from LHR. Before the flight I had to call and cancel the reservation due to sickness and I was told that I would have to send in a document from the doctor about my illness which I did via email. However I have not had any response from BA and I called up recently to ask about the flights and have been told that the flights have been archived and that there is nothing that can be done because the tickets are valid for one year and there is no leeway in this.
I am not sure what can be done here and if there is some sort of leeway with this as I am currently stuck with 4 flights that have been ‘archived’ and now I cannot do anything about them.
Could someone possibly have any guidance as to what I can do here? It would be ever so much appreciated.
Many Thanks
So were the flights actually cancelled? Were you trying to get a refund/change travel dates?
You can try appealing to BA again but I think you’re dependent on their goodwill for something like this. Have you looked into whether your travel insurance covers this?

Hello NorthernLass, Yes I had cancelled the flights myself as I was not in a state to fly, I did not know however that there is a 1 year period where you must call and rearrange or make a decision on the flights before they are ‘archived’per say.
Apologies, it’s not clear what you were asking/expecting from BA? Did you ask for a refund or change of travel dates?
AFAIK they do allow a change of travel dates with medical evidence of illness, but this is a goodwill gesture by BA. What did they say you could expect after submitting the documents from your doctor? When did you send these?
