Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club J flights from KUL to LHR

    Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help answer this.

I was looking to book Economy from LHR to KUL (no issue) followed by Business back on the return journey with the companion voucher. Travelling with wife and baby.

Two days ago, I saw there were 5 Business flights available for the date we wanted to travel back (November). However, I’ve just tried to book now and there are no Business reward flights left. If I book PE on the way back now, and somehow 2 Business flights become available between now and when we fly back, how easy is it to change from PE to Business with the reward booking? Is there an extortionate cash cost associated with it too?

I guess the likelihood of Business becoming available again once gone is very unlikely?

    Thanks in advance!

I think you would just have to pay the £35 cancellation fee, as you would need BA customer service to cancel and rebook you into J. Just keep an eye on J availability, and if there is none by 24 hours before you return home, you’ll be staying in PE.

You never know, BA is ramping up flights to KUL and BKK now they’ve cancelled some China routes, so it’s probably a 50% chance of something coming up (although 2 at the same time may be more difficult).

I’ve recently done this though to MRU. Extra J bécane available a month or so out and was charged the extra Avios and £35pp change. As mine was ex UK, I assume the APD is higher so in total was £230.

No issues in doing it (except it was 3 weeks ago and ticket still not reissued….)

I’ll add the J availability never came up on Seat Spy so must have been from the additional 241 inventory. You basically have to sporadically keep checking (assuming you have a 241 to do this).

Thanks, warrior01 and ekposh! I’ve booked PE back for now to ensure we have seats.

We’re still more than three months out from travel, so I’ll keep intermittently checking for J’s availability. It’s good to know there’s only a £35pp admin fee to change.

The total cost difference for everyone for the entire journey between Econ/PE combo to Econ/Business combo was only ~£400 and ~15k avios, so it’s definitely worth the hassle to book J on the overnight journey back. I was just too naive to not book it 2 days ago when I saw them.
