@Chas, I am new member so not a renewal. Paid cash. I don’t think I needed to be Ambassador before booking the stays to qualify for the 20k point so I could have continued to wait too. However, I am off soon for over a month and didn’t want to risk losing out as I usually take my eye of the ball a bit with loyalty whilst away. Good luck with yours, you’ll know quite soon now.
@BJ have you been Ambassador before but let it lapse? Or is this a first ever sign up? If you’re a new member for the first time, I’m very optimistic about extending my partner’s Diamond in the near future….I signed Mrs T up for the first time on 2nd September and it renewed her Diamond status to the end of 2023. Not sure if that was at the time of the hack or not but I can’t see why the hack would impact this ‘feature’. As IHG will have had to pour resources into security I’d imagine that if this extension feature is not working as intended then its useful lifetime will only have been increased with other IT matters taking priority now!

Ah. I interpreted “after the hack” to mean after IHG got hacked. Not for users with the freebie Diamond-for-nothing status. Apologies… I should read twice and write less.
I used the link for straight to Diamond. Took AMB for 1st time yesterday and extended to 2023. Also happened to be staying at a CP yesterday and upgraded into a Suite.
Data point on IHG Diamond extension:
Diamond status was due to expire 31/12/22
Used 40,000 to buy Ambassador for the first time (not renewing).
After about 45mins or so, Diamond status now valid until December 31st *2023*
Also received an email from IHG saying “Welcome to Diamond” (although I was already Diamond but the gist was that I had supposedly requalified)
Not sure whether or not I’ll end up using the 2for1 voucher, as UK options limited (it’s a real shame they won’t let you use for Kimpton properties next year). The validity of my Ambassador voucher is until 1st December 2023.

I have a 3 nights points stay booked on the “special IHG points offer” at The IC Rome next March. So before my Berlin stay, if I purchase Ambassador for $200, I should receive 20,000 points from my Berlin stay, extend my Diamond status til end 2023, receive a possible upgrade for my Rome IC Stay and also get free Breakfast for my Rome stay? Is that how it should work?

I joined in September and already used my free night certificate (at Kimpton de Witt, amazing value at over 400 euros per night) and got the 20k bonus points. However, I still can see the free night certificate in my account, I am wondering if I could use it again. I have a booking for 2 nights next month at Kimpton Clocktower and it would save me around £150; the problem is that if it doesn’t work I will end paying almost £100 extra (as the ambassador rate is more expensive). Has this happened to anyone else before?

Where do you see your weekend ‘free’ night within your account? Purchased Ambassador last week, and made a Kimpton ‘paid’ stay on the same day, hopefully that will qualify towards the 2 nights for the 20k bonus without issue.

But my Diamond expires at end of December this year. Any way to prompt a 2023 renewal date?

We have one night booking at the IC Bora Bora Thalasso Spa overwater bungalow, so – after time sleeping – I reckon a 4pm checkout is worth many 100s of dollars!

Do you mean a 2022 renewal date? You can renew Ambassador 92 days from the anniversary of your membership, so for you this should fall into current calendar year & trigger your Diamond Elite extension…
Also not sure what you mean re MrsCM but if you enrol her as Ambassador before her Elite status expires then she too will get extended another year!

Data point – I renewed Ambassador when this offer appeared, stayed 2 nights at the Kimpton Blythswood (the spa is amazing) last week (using the BOGOF) and the 20k points posted together with the ones for the stay today. The 2 nights at Blythswood Sq cost me a total of £229 due to staying on a Thursday and Friday so it feels like a good result!

Try going to the My Stays page on IHG.COM, there’s a box to add a stay with a confirmation number. I’ve done this successfully many times when the stay was booked via a corporate travel agent.
