Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes KrisFlyer (Singapore Airlines) miles & cash?

    Hi,

I’m struggling to find out how much miles & cash redemptions would cost on Singapore Airlines flights.

I plan to take a return trip between the UK and Australia in 2025, and I’m currently accumulating Amex MR points which I could transfer to Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer programme and use to offset the cost of the flights (I am unlikely to reach the 117,000 KrisFlyer miles required for the full award seats where you only pay taxes).

However, I first want to understand how much KrisFlyer miles would be valued at before I irreversibly convert them from Amex MR to KrisFlyer points. It seems like the only way to find out the available combinations (e.g. “20,000 points + £700; 40,000 points + £500; etc.”) is to have a huge balance of miles.

Is there any way of being able to see the miles & cash payment options without transferring the points over already? Singapore Airlines’ webpages on this subject do not provide any answers (see e.g. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/ppsclub-krisflyer/use-miles/mix-miles-and-cash/ and the pages linked therein).

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, much appreciated! It looks like the redemption is even worse than doing the equivalent via e.g. Avios on BA. I might hold off a while longer and try to find an award flight for the trip after instead of trying to get a discount at any cost on next year’s trip.

Without knowing your specifics, two options could be flying with Avios to Singapore and then onwards with cash, or booking a cheaper fare from an ex-EU destination such as Oslo

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn’t considered splitting it up this way (it’s my first time using points for any sort of long haul flight). Will keep an eye on those options!
