Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I see BA1480/81 will be operated by an ATR72 from the start of the summer timetable.
2hr 10 min block time.
Compared to 1h 30 for an A320, so adding insult to injury by getting you there 40 minutes later!
2 hours 10? You can get to the south of France in that kind of flying time!
And if it’s operated by Emerald (EI Commuter bods) it’ll likely arrive/depart late. As for luggage…
Booked on GLA-LGW-MCO in September. Naturally, I’m not at all happy with the news (though admittedly unsurprised given recent concerns over the future of the GLA-LGW route).
Anyone have any ideas what – if any – options I have now? Is a change of operating carrier enough to constitute a refund / re-reoute to MIA via LHR, for example? Is it worth just calling BA up and seeing what they say?
I wouldn’t have booked in the first place had I known it was an ATR operating the domestic leg…

Loganair’s ATR72 does Dundee to Heathrow in around 1h20m flight time. 2h10m seems like a lot of padding.

It appears to arrive from Belfast the night before so hopefully limited scope for delays !
@tpb_2024 no official rights but BA does have a wet lease policy to put you on a BA metal service before/after the outsourced flight. But I suspect this would only mean putting you on an LHR flight and then you’d have to transfer to your original transatlantic. But worth leaving it a few days for any additional policy to be published and then give them a call
About 10 years back I took FlyBE from SOU-SZG in one of their props. I think that was close on 3hrs. Thankfully the fare made it worthwhile and the plane was less than half full as it was the last outbound of the season.

Reminds me of the time I flew with RAM from Lisbon to Bissau, with a short layover in Casablanca.
The LIS-CMN sector was downgraded from a 737 max to an ATR72, and my luggage never left lisbon, because (and I quote) “the luggage compartment was full and the decision was made to leave some luggages behind”.
Luckily it arrived on the TAP flight the very next day.
Let’s hope one of the props doesn’t fail – you’ll be in the air forever!! 😁
