    Hi folks,
How do I know if two BA bookings are “linked”? Usual family of 3 scenario with two on one booking with a 241 and the other on a separate booking with a Barclays voucher.
Assuming “linking” means they’ll treat us as a family of 3 rather than the individual tickets, how do I know that this is the case? Essentially want to make sure the solo traveler doesn’t fall victim to being moved or changed.
    Thanks

There isn’t be any formal “linking” with these kind of bookings. BA may make a note on them that the passengers are travelling together, but this doesn’t give any guarantees, e.g. of being seated together.

Although it’s rare, each booking can end up being treated differently – e.g. a few years ago my son and I were on a 241 booking and OH was on a cash ticket , our flight was cancelled and we were initially re-routed on different flights. It’s unlikely but you will need to keep a close eye out for any disruption notifications so you can ensure any changes required are the same for all of you.

@ChrisR – the ‘linking’ of bookings won’t be visible to you a bit annoying as you never know if the agent has even done it. However, there is no formal ‘linking’ as such, it’s more of an FYI/yellow sticky type thing that might or might not get picked up at important moments.

What the airline or agent actually does is to add an OSI (other service information) and/or SSR (special service requirement) line to your party with TCP (to complete party) and the other PNR(s).

When systems carry out automatic functions this likely doesn’t get picked up but it should get picked up on any manual intervention relating to the flight and at the airport, so seating often does get fixed for families to sit together.
