Forums Other Destination advice Lon to MAA – 2 year old Child Fare ticket options ?

  • 28 posts

    All,

Wanted to understand which are the good options for a 2+ year old to be booked on in terms of mileage/cost-basis ?

An infant costs only 10% on BA upto 2 years, similar on other airlines, but costs the full mileage/fare on BA for >2.

Lufthansa charges only 75% of the regular price for 2-11 year olds, are there other airlines.

Any others that will offer better ? Specifically looking for Lon-Chennai sector if that helps.

I doubt there is much better than that, they’re taking a seat / bag allowance / meal etc the same as an adult, isn’t much incentive for an airline to discount

LH may offer a miles reduction but what about on the cash element?

With a young child I’d be seriously considering whether the the direct flight isn’t actually the best option rather than put them through an additional take off and landing, airport transfer and longer trip time etc.

Virgin also seems to charge only 75% of the fare(cash), just priced out a Virgin itinerary,
Although no direct flight to Chennai, so connecting in Delhi to an Indigo.
The connection times do drag the length of the trip out, hence was always considering BA as direct flight to Chennai. Under 1700 for Virgin economy for a 2+1 return in peak holiday period seems ok now, so decided to book it.
Only consolation is as mentioned – the same luggage allowance for the kid would help.
Also, Virgin seems ok to accrue miles for the child, shame they don’t do household like BA does…
