Hello
I am very new to this and will be my first time booking with BA Executive Club using Avios/
I have enough points and a companion voucher for a return flights to SA next March business class.
We would like to spend most of our time with family in Durban but would like to spend 2/3 days in Cape Town either at the end or beginning of a 2 week holiday.
It seems that there are very few Business Class flights available to Cape Town and back but there are more to JHB.
I am thinking of arriving in Cape Town for a few days and then flying to Durban for the remainder of the holiday and then from Durban to JHB to fly home again.
I realise that I will have to phone BA Executive Club directly to book the flights as I will be flying to one airport but leaving to go home from another.
My question is with the internal flights. I will need one internal from Cape Town to Durban then from Durban to JHB.
( I may do this in reverse and do Cape Town at the end – I don’t know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to doing them in a particular order )Is it best to book those separately and directly with an airline in South Africa?
How long should I allow between the homeward Durban to JHB one when I am flying home to allow us to offload and collect luggage etc to then book in for the flight home?
Thank you
When in March? SeatSpy is showing some availability left which you should probably jump on soon! If you’re intending to travel over Easter weekend at the very end of the month you’ll need to be on the ball for either destination as they will go fast.
Otherwise you can wait and see if extra availability is released through your new 241 voucher, though I expect there will be some competition for those as well.
*Plenty to JNB as well, though as soon as the Easter seats are released they will probably get snapped up.
Aiming to go out 1st or 2nd March and return around the 17th March.
Unfortunately, won’t be able to book until 85000 Avios points are transferred at the end of this month to my British Airways executive club account
Whilst Airlink has BA codeshares for cash tickets you can’t book Avios flights, so you need to book for cash.
This leads to other issues, eg you will have two separate tickets so you won’t be protected if the first flight is delayed. Nothing you can do about this except build in flexibility unfortunately.
