Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Looking for a credit (or debit) card that allows you to add trusted retailers

I’m looking for a credit card which I can checkout often without getting OTP/app verification requests. My Amex gold rewards is good for this but the particular retailer I want to use it on doesn’t accept Amex. Whereas my Chase debit card is completely useless and will want me to verify even a £3 transaction.

Can anyone recommend a card that provides what I’m looking for? Would be ideal if it came as a rewards/cashback card too but not essential.

    Thanks

I feel your pain. HSBC now insists that you not only wait for a texted password but type in your account email address too, a complete waste of time and very fiddly on a mobile.

My NatWest/RBS cards seem to approve most transactions under £100 without a verification request. And when verification has been required, I’ve always found it much quicker to approve than on the Chase app, which takes an age to load up (at least on my Android machine).

Natwest’s Reward credit card is free if you have a Reward current account, but at 0.25% cashback it’s not particularly exciting.

Revolut isn’t bad in terms of verification requests either. Not much in the way of rewards on the standard account, but 0.4% back with the Pro account (recently went down from 1%), which is also free.

On an iPhone, your can setup keyboard shortcuts. I have several setup for common phrases including email addresses. Prob something similar on android

Trusted retailers function, good points earning, non-Amex?

That’ll be the Virgin Atlantic Reward+ credit card. Just spent 6k today at a trusted retailer without triggering security challenge, so works well.

This is what I found with searching on google. Seems like the only card provider who has this function other than American Express! (though I could’ve sworn my Newday Amazon card used to have this feature).

The rewards don’t seem to be catered to my interests but good to know that they’re there. I was hoping Barclaycard would have the feature but they confirmed they don’t.

Anyway will apply for this Virgin card.

It says on it something about them monitoring how you enter the email address for verification reasons. Not sure how true that is mind !

My German Visa Debit card has never asked for verification for online transactions.

About 50% of the time does not request a PIN in shops either!

Not entirely sure that this is a good idea though!
