I saw that story in The Times and was rather surprised at the 7k offer, even after the newspaper’s intervention. The other surprise is, did you ask for compensation for the IFE you didn’t use or was it offered to everyone for a major aircraft IFE failure?

But they can use the points on Virgin Wines and balloon flights! 🤣 Or Greggs? 😛

Everyone I could see in CW got handed a note of some kind. It’s a while back, but BA were proactive about it.

Everyone was given the compensation. Well at least everyone I could see in CW.

That’s poor. I can’t believe Virgin even doubled down after the paper tried to help! I guess there were mitigating circumstances around the return journey where you’d actually want a bed, Virgin did offer an alternative seat, but it still seems way below what I would expect. I came back from NYC with a friend in 2017 who had the same issue and she wasn’t into the points game (I paid for our flights with my miles) and they offered up 15k or a bottle of champagne to take home, she took the champagne and was delighted.

She wasn’t quite as delighted when I told her she should have put the points back onto my account and i’d have bought her 2 bottles! Still, she seemed to enjoy the overnight flight given she was pretty much the only person awake and the crew took good care of her.

I got 10k points for there being no chicken pie on a LHR-LAX. I’ve had 10k points for crap TPA ground ops. I’ve had 10k points for… the point is that 7k is poor here. I wonder if some of this is because they’re factoring in the internal costs of dealing with VS Hols.

I remember once arriving in to LAS with a few bottles of VS champers after, it transpires, people just weren’t drinking it. Kerching.

I recently got 6k for a broken IFE in economy. More than happy as I rarely use it.
I only complained as I was flying with an infant and not being able to use the call bell was a real pain.
Wondering if that’s about the standard they give for a broken IFE?

Got 8,000 for non working TV in UC January just gone

Just swapped seats with wife who was reading a book for whole flight.

BUT there do seem to be issues of some sort with every Virgin UC we do. It’s fast losing its allure.
