Hi,
I have just booked MAN – DXB in business with an old style 241 voucher. First question is, have I been robbed due to the rule changes and paying 160k avios? More of an aspirational booking as we wouldn’t usually fly in business, and when I did the maths per avios I thought it came out alright..
Secondly, I was of the understanding that 241 voucher redemptions had to leave from Heathrow, this one connects to, but doesn’t originate there. Have the rules changed or was what I originally thought wrong?
Thanks.
Well done on booking a J redemption!
Assuming you paid 160,000 Avios total plus 2x£350 then you’ve done fine.
I think pre change it would have been 100,000 Avios plus about £700 each so 60,000 more Avios for £700 cash saving is a winner.
As for connections, they’ve been allowed for as long as I can remember.
As above, the 241 has always allowed domestic connections – you might be confusing this with the Barclays upgrade voucher which won’t let you add the connection online. Or that what you’re remembering is that the old vouchers have to be used from the UK – but not necessarily starting from LHR.
The price you paid is the new RFS on long haul routes introduced by BA in December. New style 241s give a range of avios plus cash prices but the old vouchers only give one option on long haul, which is what you paid.
