Forums Payment cards American Express Media app overpriced?

Am I missing something about the Melia app? If I select a voucher from my profile and search, the price is more expensive than booking in a browser, even if logged in. The Melia on the Strand is showing £301 with the voucher code copied and pasted into a browser, but £378 in the app with the same voucher.

Not usually, have you clicked into the see rates on the app?

Which dates and I’ll have a look.

That looks more like the voucher has not been applied. Did u check the price before and after the voucher?

I can’t seem to get the Gold 20% off to apply to hotel bookings in the Med for dates in summer, neither.

I thought the 20% would be applied to all bookings but it is hit and miss.

My particular example based on wanting to better an existing booking.

    Sol Torremolinos
    11/8 – 24/8
Room for 2 adults, 2 children
    Half board
    Free cancellation rate: €5648
No sign of any 20% off.
(Using app and going via My Promotions / exchange to apply the 20% from Gold)

I managed to get the same on Black Friday without any Gold discount for €3600 (perhaps 5% app discount and using 2000 introductory points)

The Meliá 20% off was one of the reasons I took out the Platinum card in the first place but it doesn’t seem to have worked out as far as I can tell.

I just checked the above example by @ukpolak and I see the same with certain rooms, e.g., family rooms.

@jek, I agree relating to the Sol Torremolinos in August as per @ukpolak mentioned.

For @masaccio, I randomly selected the 3rd August for 2 adults and 1 night, and on the app only the price dropped £384.75 to £307.80 for an Always Me room. Travelling at present so want to check separately on my laptop later for the website only.

This was the Melia ME on Jan 27 for 1 night. I will probably book online as I have the voucher code generated by the app. That means I think I lose an extra 5% but it’s still a decent rate for that class of hotel in central London.

Again, not knowing the room type, just looked and £255.00 for an Always ME on your date with the voucher and £319.00 without on the app, or £336.00 on the website.

That is very odd – the app is showing £449.35 for an Always ME room and £506 for refundable with breakfast.

I have just checked and also get the same rate as dundj, might be worth giving them a call
