The story of my mega miles run MAN-LHR-DOH-AUH-CMB-KUL-CGK-CMB-AUH-CMB-KUL-CGK-KUL-CMB-AUH-DOH-CMB-DOH-AUH-DOH-OSL-LHR-MAN

flown man-lhr – security at Manchester it usual dreadful self – my hoody was rejected – asked if I packed it myself!
Escape lounge at terminal 3 its usual grubby self – don’t ever pay to get in.
The club flight to LHR was great – really good service and left and arrived on time. 40 tp
LHR-DOHA – fast track was super quick at terminal 4 and the Qatar lounge great.
Currently in seat 10A q-suite great food and service as ever. no tier points avios flight. Really need to get some sleep.

Watching this with interest! What was the Escape lounge like from a capacity standpoint? I have a PP, wondering if I should reserve or not.

If you really want to use, reserve as the PP no welcome is the de facto, but in my opinion not worth the effort.

Can’t wait to see the rest of this. Fare construction would be interesting to know about too.

Oh wow. That is one hell of a TP run. How many TP does this earn? And how many days is this taking. I too would like to know how much this is costing. Presumably in J. Imagine doing that routing in economy!

I do hope it all goes smoothly. I will also be following with interest. Not sure I would

The escape lounge was nearly empty and they stopped serving food at 7.30pm.
In the calm space of the Qatar business lounge now – waiting for my only economy flight to AUH. 10 tier points !
The AUH- CMB – CGK flights in J are usually £700 return and get 560 tp. Srilankan have cancelled numerous legs hence the KUL reroute but CMB- KUL- CGK is 80tp instead of the CMB – CGK which is 140.
The last AUH – CGK was cancelled so I booked AUH-DOH-CMB with Qatar instead (same price) which gets 400 tp.
I will still end up as gold so long as there are no more changes.

A 35 minute flight from Doha to Abu Dhabi – not sure I would bother with first class – row 3 at the front of economy has more leg room.
12 hour stop in Abu Dhabi so booked a day hotel ( Novotel £40) .

If you haven’t already, do you Indonesia “visa on arrival” online in advance. Same price, queueing for the VoA desk before immigration. Also do the customs declaration online, and print both. Oh, and keep hold of your baggage tags, Indonesia generally wants to match them to your bags before you leave baggage claim

Malaysian seem to be having some catering issues at the moment, so you might want to plan on eating in the lounge. Beware of the infinitely refilling champagne glasses on Sri Lankan if you have a good crew. And above all, have fun!

Thanks for the advice – I have no checked luggage – already done the visa on line – thanks loads tho !

Customs declaration is another thing you need to do, as well as the visa. You get a QR Code you show to customs when exiting the baggage hall. https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/

Just boarded AUH-CMB 140 TP – reclining seat but I will sleep. The lounge at AUH is one of the worst -roll on the new terminal. Huge queue to get in and the fire alarm sounded for the whole time I was in there. Noise cancelling head phones are amazing.
Just had the hottest towel ever – still think Oman are the only ones who offer hot/cold choice.

In the Srilankan lounge at Colombo – great range of food but lounge is a bit past it best.

Now completed flight number 6 with Malaysian so in Jakarta.
MH service wasn’t as good as Srilankan and the seat was smaller but the lounge was pretty impressive.
Stayed at the SamiSami at KL as a day hotel – this is a really good hotel for the money – even take you in a buggy to the terminal.
Currently in Raffles in Jakarta – totally beautiful – booked here purely because they have a roast duck station at breakfast.
    TP count 270 so far.

Giving me ideas for a retirement present for myself, you’d have to be a special kind of crazy to do this sort of thing so it’s right up my street. Do you mind me asking the £/TP ratio?

If it had been as booked before srilankan cancelled 4 legs it was 0.8 tp/£.

In the plaza premium lounge at Jakarta – really quite nice. The back to back at Abu Dhabi is looming tiny bit nervous.

Hope you got to enjoy all the fun street art drawn around CGK airport, especially the fire extinguishers? There’s some really good ones!

The Plaza Premium lounge in CGK does some good cooked-to-order noodle dishes. The bar also does coffee, which is nicer than the stuff from the machine by the dining area

The Sri Lankan lounge in Colombo has showers, ask at the entry desk. You might want one, and/or a stiff drink, before carrying on!

Oh, and enjoy the tea menu on board Sri Lankan, they have some really nice ones

So, how did the back-to-back in Abu Dhabi, and the return flights, go?

I’m wondering how this trip is progressing – 3 days now and no news. Do we need to send out a search party?

I’m not sure I’m understanding this correctly but this looks like 22 flights in (mostly?) business class to get 1500 TP’s at a cost of about 0.8TP/£, so roughly a cost of £1900. Is that right?

Busy week for me so only just catching up on all this since seeing the original post in the daily chat thread last week

    Wouldn’t it be £1200 ? Either way a bargain!

    @davedent
seems to be progressing per their post in yesterday’s chat

Qatar first short haul is bonkers – shown to your seat and a boarding glass of champagne plus super thick blanket on a 45 minute flight – BA please watch.

    @Omegaman No, 0.8TP/£ or £1.25/TP, so £1875.
