Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Missing Avios from BA Shopping

  • 1 post

    Hi

Does anyone know what is going on with claiming Avios through BA Shopping? Some of my purchases were not tracked in January leading to me having to file missing avios claims. Then I had acknowledgements saying that they were transferring platforms to the collinsongroup: –

Thank you for contacting our Customer Service team.

Nobody is responding to emails. I have emailed the Collinsongroup, British Airways Executive Club Customer Service and now the old “zendesk365” email address to complain and nothing.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems? Some of this purchases are high value. I’m really angry about having to chase for months and months and nobody responds.

I’m getting the same message as you. I despair! 2000 avios is always a help , but not worth all the agro of chasing. IMO BA should recompense as it is, after all, fronted as BA restore. If a retailer on the store isn’t going to cough up, boot them off the site or pay up in lieu

It really is a lottery whether they track in the first place and then whether they get reclaimed/adjusted down at a later date. Many people have complained on here before about it (not that it helps you).
I tend to assume the worst case ie it won’t then if it does come good it’s a bonus.
I’ve noticed Virgin Shopsaway tends to be more reliable than BA

Good luck. I’m still waiting for 5500 points from a Hilton stay last July. I email every month, get the same generic ‘we’re investigating’. Tracked, receipts supplied, screen grabs sent. Pretty sure it’ll never happen now….

Hilton declined mine saying I never stayed there despite it being on my HH account and sending the folio showing $1500. That’s the last time I used BA Estore.

What is going on with BA’s Shopping site and their consistent failure to track purchases for the Avios bonuses they offer. It’s almost every transaction they fail to track!

I have to claim most of my transactions through the BA Shopping site as “missing Avios”. Very frustrating, but when they are worth thousands of Avios, it is worth it in the end when you’re sitting on that next flight.

My current favourite is that I was awarded Avios for an in-person Honest Burgers purchase. They were then clawed back as they claim they were not the “last referrer” – how is that even possible on an in-person transaction…?

But also Honest Burgers have now disappeared from their claim form. So just filed a claim under a different random restaurant as there’s no other way to contact them 🙄

All cashback sites have problems with valid purchases declining the cashback/points afterwards, and to be fair there is a LOT of cookie-and-session-tracking nonsense behind the scenes.

For purchases where the cashback/points are significant – eg the multi-£100-topcashback finance ones, I do this:

    * Start a screen recording session with audio
    * Talk through the process as I go
    * Open a brand new browser session in porn mode so there are zero saved cookies
    * Capture the whole process with commentary highlighting the terms and that I am complying with them – ie complete purchase from click-through entirely online – from opening browser session, sign-in, click-through and complete the transaction in one go as per the terms
    * Save the recording

I’ve yet to have to challenge one for lack of cashback when using one of the more reputable sites (ie not BA) armed with this, but I’d feel reasonably confident going through the “formal complaint, letter to company secretary, court claim” process armed with that.

I’ve started using the e-store again since I gave it another chance and got some easy avios from a few Viator bookings last summer. I noticed that I now get an email confirming that I’ve made a qualifying booking or purchase so I keep those in a folder as I assume this would be adequate proof that I had complied with the Ts and Cs.

I’ve booked probably 20-something Hilton hotel bookings through BA shopping (I’m Diamond on Hilton already) – and I’ve received Avios a grand total of ONCE.

I’ve given up attempting to complain. I’ve done private browser; cleared all caches and cookies – all combinations of things and it never works.

Hilton seems to be the worse in my experience… my usual “shopping” generally works fine; although I think Harvey Nicks only gave me 30% of the relevant points once claiming I hadn’t clicked through (but in which case – it should have been all or nothing?)

It’s an absolutely garbage portal / system. Fortunately, it’s not a large Avios earner for me anyway, so it’s not generally more than an irritant…. one I save up for when my inner Victor Meldrew kicks in….

Going through Nectar works for collecting points for Hilton , albiet at 4 nectar points per £1 rather than 4 Avios/£1

Same for me with Honest Burgers!
