Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Mixing Iberia and BA on a companion voucher booking

  • 141 posts

Is this possible using a BAEC voucher:

Out: Madrid > Bueuos Aires on Iberia
In: Rio > London on BA

It’s both starting in a different city, ending in a different city and using 2 airlines.

Have you checked distances on gcmap?
I am not sure that you can because the distance between Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro I think is greater than the distance between London and Madrid.

You might be able to get away with it if you book separately online and ask for half Avios back, but that will only apply if you’re booking right away as the seats open up at T-360/355.

I’m sure it’s fine, I’ve booked double open jaws like this before. Its the difference between the shortest long haul leg and the distance between the destinations at each end that matters

The jaw is between Buenos Aires & Rio not Mad & London

The distance between Buenos Aires & Rio is definitely shorter than the 2 long hauls so on that rule all is good.

If I can mix and match airlines with a 2-4-1 via the call centre seems like it will work.

    Availability is not an issue.

    Thanks all for your input.

It’s a double open jaw (as opposed to an origin open jaw or destination open jaw) so both theoretically matter, although for most practical purposes a DOJ is a question of combinability rather than the open jaw rules so is fine here on both counts. May screw up the TFCs though if booked on one PNR.
