Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Nectar Connect – any good?

  • Ash 622 posts

I’m thinking of signing up and appreciate any feedback , good or bad, from those that have.

    Is it worth it?

Do you get x30 nectar points on all transactions? Or a curated selection of offers, akin to Amex offers – merchants offering enhanced nectar points.

How much info do you have to give up? Can you limit their access to a single credit card?

    Thanks in advance.

It’s free points in return for every single bit of current data about the tranactions that go through whichever accounts you give them access to, along with 3-5 years of historic data.

So, by personal choice, I’d never given them access to my current account data. But I don’t mind them having shopping data from my Amex or MBNA accounts.

    The points return varies. I currently have. Averys – 40pt, Beefeater – 20pt, Talkmobile – 200pt, Five Guys – 10pt, StichFix – 4000Pt, LNER – 10pt, Tails – 1000pt, Lakeland – 14pts, NatEx – 20 pts, ST Wine Club – 30pts, Parkdean – 20Pts, KatKin – 2000 pts, Leon – 24 Pt, Laithwaites 40pt, American Golf – 20pts, Mindful Chef – 3000 pts, Brewers Fayre – 20pts, Just Eat – 20 pts, Apex Hotels, 20pts, Mr Porter 14pts, Hughes – 8pts, Ok I’m bored typing, there’s another 20 or so.

It’s all down to whether you can earn points on the transactions you make from their current list of retailers.

    Worth it for me.

I’ve received 21350 Nectar Points in 15 months.

    Laithwaites’s Averys 11100
    LNER 7542
    Craft Gin Club 1600
    Harvey Nicks 1108

In all cases, this stacked with credit card cashback and sometimes Airtime Rewards and Volderportal.

You only have to share one credit card to get offers (althought I share all my Amex cards).

I’m also expecting 9540 Nectar Points from an Avis booking.

You are selling them your data. Personally, I’m comfortable with that.

    My current offers;

6 pts per £1 at Hughes
200 pts per £1 at Talkmobile
    3,000 pts at Mindful Chef
    1,000 pts at tails.com
20 pts per £1 at American Golf
14 pts per £1 at Lakeland
    2,000 pts at KatKin
    20 pts per £1 at Parkdean Resort…
    10,000 pts at Sky TV
    4,000 pts at Stitch Fix
    20 pts per £1 at National Expres…
    8,000 pts at Sky Mobile
24 pts per £1 at LEON
20 pts per £1 at YO!
20 pts per £1 at Harvey Nichols
10 pts per £1 at Ellis Brigham
14 pts per £1 at MR PORTER
30 pts per £1 at Lands’ End
    20 pts per £1 at L’Occitane
20 pts per £1 at Coach
20 pts per £1 at Paul Smith
10 pts per £1 at LNER
    10 pts per £1 at Laithwaite’s

Lol you wish it was 15% back on every single transaction.

Same set of crap offers you get with Lloyd’s and NatWest and Virgin and curve and Barclays, occasionally there’s a few useful ones like LNER. The good thing is you can double dip.

I find if you link an account with more data for them to mine more offers show up.

I’m a big fan. Always double dip on train tickets via LNER with Airtime Rewards. Buy a £500 voucher to maximise the return. Had some good triple dips on Laithwaites + Averys too (Amex + their promo offers)

I’ve seen a few comments here that there is a 6k points cap, but haven’t found anything else online about it. Anyone know for sure?

For some (all?) offers there is a 6000 nectar point limit. I think this is per offer or per transaction??? I’ve got a rarely used Amex plat, so happy for nectar to gain access to that.

Unfortunately LNER are not currently on Airtime Rewards.

They are for me. 8% back on LNER

How’s that happened then? Not on my app! I thought everyone got the same offers on Airtime Rewards. Maybe not.

5% LNER on Airtime Rewards for me at the moment..

…and zero% for me. So Airtime Rewards clearly do have different offers for users. Huh.

Can we use the voucher for tickets on other train companies? Does it get deducted just like Amazon credit?

Yep – you can book any credit via LNER, and yes, you just use the credit like an Amazin voucher credit. Once you’ve added the voucher to your account it is especially easy from the app. I stock up on vouchers each time I have the opportunity to double dip and it generally sees me through until the next promotion 🙂

As someone else said, on the data they scrape, I only do it with my Amex credit card and not my bank accounts.

Also, I’ve found they don’t always track, in fact I recon only about 30% of mine track.
Did have a couple track last week from transactions in October last year.

I still use it, but I don’t factor it into any purchases or when buying anything at all, just if it tracks it tracks.

I’ve received exactly zero points via Nectar Connect for the last 15 months, nothing ever tracks and I can’t be bothered to chase as it’s a massive palaver and they seem to deliberately make it so.
