My start date was 1 March but card arrived on 15 March, statement date 23 March and got billed 20 card fee. Got card fee refunded via chat in app and now 5k Avios – nice work.

I feel I’ve done OK so far… Didn’t get the card until the 18th having applied on the 28th. However I got the text saying it was on its way just as I was about to chase them so I didn’t expend any energy on that, and at least by the time I got it linking it to Curve was painless.

Only downside was it was too late to back-in-time my Curve spend from when we were away in February. But got the text today promising the extra 5K Avios so happy with that.

No fee yet though my statement date is the 19th working day of the month so presumably imminent. If it is retrospective for the preceding month I will probably challenge it but otherwise I seem to have got off lightly.

No supplementary card yet though – requesting that was a bit hit and miss and it only worked after I dropped the hyphen from my wife’s surname (though still not sure that was the issue).

Text message saying if get 5000 extra. Great news and I’ve done well out of this. Monthly fee waived £50 compensation and 5000 Avios. Put council tax through it so have 25,000 more. Wife’s card arrived today so Avios balance will increase. Between this and Qatar it’s been the best week for collection in a while.

How many people have already had the first monthly fee applied to their account? I applied on day 1, card arrived 15th March and the fee was applied on the 18th. Is it a common thing that people have had this first month refunded?

Sounds like it’s only people who’ve complained fairly forcefully who’ve managed to get it refunded.

Just clicked through from the link & text says HfP bonus 5k from today to 4th April.

However, having been told by the eligibility checker that I ‘m ok for the “plus” card, I’ve been declined.

They haven’t learned from the earlier snafus (there’s a big enough salary). Bye bye Barclays. Snafu!

Oh dear. Did think 1 month is too short a time to fix their problems.

Should I wait for a few months before they get it right and forego 5k miles? Don’t want unnecessary credit checks.

Ditto, just been declined for the first time ever. I already have a Barclays Premier Account as well so surely something not right there.

I didn’t ‘pass’ the eligibility checker, but it didn’t explicitly say that I had been declined either. Just stated something like ‘we need to do some more checks’. Have decided not to proceed yet as I want to avoid a hard credit check that results in me being declined as it doesn’t feel like a good look!

For info, I too am a Barclays Premier Current Account holder (have been for several years) and have never been declined on any credit application ever. I dont want this to be a first just for the sake of an additional 5K Avios. I think I’d rather wait until all these reports of unusual declined applications start to disappear. If the welcome bonus has reduced by then, so be it.

Declined by the eligibility checker, I’m guessing this is a definite no-go for making an actual application? Barclaycard seem to hate me for some reason.

Update: Changed my mind and went through it again. Eligibility checker this time suggested I had a good chance of being accepted so I took the plunge and applied. Happy to report I was instantly accepted with a healthy £13k credit limit ! 🙂

….nothing through on email yet to confirm this though. Can anyone who has been through this confirm if/when they received an email for Barclaycard confirming acceptance etc.?

Was offered same limit as you. Didn’t get an e-mail for ages – applied just after 1300. E-mail came through at 1520. Am unable to log on to online servicing though

Flat offer I reckon. I raised a complaint but received a letter saying it had been resolved and case closed once they’d refunded me my first month’s fee.

While I would have preferred to have had no problems at all, I’ve eventually ended up with the first month refunded and 5,000 additional Avios. A more than satisfactory conclusion to the saga!

Same here, satisfactorily concluded. Fingers crossed the 5k avios will appear without needing any chasing.

5K Avios isn’t much compensation if you miss the 25K welcome bonus because the card was delayed three weeks and then didn’t initially work when it did finally arrive.

The welcome bonus period should be extended by one month and 5K Avios for the trouble.
