Hello All,
I received a new Amex Plat today and want to start making the most of the benefits. I have some questions about the Local Dining Plat Benefit / £150..
1. I understand from another article that this benefit is annual and resets on 1/1, ie I have the rest of this month and December to make the most of £150, before I get another £150 again on 1/1/24. Is this correct?
2. If yes to the above, we don’t have many free opportunities to use the £150 in the next four or so weeks however I could pop in to my local Ivy (on the list) to buy £150 of gift cards which tbh would be great for Christmas pressies. T&Cs appear to prohibit gift card purchases but (from experience) would this work?
If yes, seems like end of year is a sweet spot for taking out this card given proximity to the reset date.
Many thanks!!
1. Yes, it resets on 1st Jan 2024, so you should try to use the 2023 credit before then. Same with the Harvey Nichols credit, but that one is split £50 in each half of the year. So you also have £50 to use at HN before the new year.
2. Have a read of the below thread. There have been some data points about getting the credit for gift card purchases at The Ivy (taking care to check they are in the list).

Before you do anything, make sure you are enrolled in the offers. If they don’t show on your offers tab, go on chat and ask them to manually enrol you.
Many thanks – yes some good data points there. It is indeed on my list of offers and I just applied it to the card, plus my local Ivy is on the list.
I’ve reserved a table in a fortnight to try to use up as much as possible (3 course greed for 2 adults and 2 kids I guess!).
I suspect we’ll fall short of £150 in which case I’ll either top up the bill by adding a gift card to get the total to £150, or settle the food bill and then separately purchase a gift card to get total spend to £150 (so at least the food part will be guaranteed cash back).
Appreciate the pointer – many thanks.
