Just over a week ago I did a dining transaction in Spain, no credit yet. In experience do overseas ones take longer than UK?

I’m not sure there’s much consistency with how long these rewards take to credit. Different venues in the UK seem to vary.

I used my reward in Montreal last year and it was just over a week before it credited.

Used £108 inc tip at Kahani on Sunday. A fantastic little Indian in Sloane Square. Had the bottomless brunch at £43 (£62 with prosecco), went for the former. Very nice dishes and was getting worried as I and the Mrs got full before the mains had arrived. Bottomless brunch available Sat 12:00-14:00 and Sun 12:30-15:00. Highly recommended to get even bang for your buck from dining credit.

@Michael C great place and good to see somewhere other than an Ivy or steak place get a mention. Re Launceston Place, you may blow the Plat offer at Sabor but my wife and son went last weekend and said it was again exceptional. My son get vouchers at Virgin Experiences that get you the £39 set lunch @ £58 for two and O2 gives you £20 off Virgin Experiences, so £38 for two exceptional lunches with quite a few inclusions not shown on the menu!

Good timing to read this as was thinking about booking Launceston Place for a lunch in the new year…can I ask how your son gets the £20 code through O2? Although I have just noticed I get 20% off through paw, which makes it £46.40 for 2 which is not too shabby at all

Edited to add…plus another 16% back through the site that must not be named…:)

Did you manage to work out how to get the £20 off with O2.

And please can you hint at the site that must not be named?!

Planning to use the £150 credit at Ivy Edinburgh but since there will be only 3 of us. We are not going to use up all the two cards credit (£300) and think of the card strategy later. So was hoping to also get GC as well after the meal. Can anyone advise if this is possible? From reading through this forum, it seems fine.

Yes, you can definitely do this

Looks like J Garden in Taipei (Taiwan) is not coded properly, have received my dining credits for other 2 restaurants in the same city (got email confirmations right after paying too).

Any experience with this? does Amex make you wait 8/9 weeks or should I get in touch sooner rather than later?

I had similar trouble with a restaurant in Bangkok (Chef man), I raised it with CS during 2 different chat sessions a few weeks after the meal. At first they claimed it was not eligible, despite it clearly being on the Amex website. Then they opened a manual query about it, I had to upload my receipt. I eventually received the credit about 2.5 months after visiting the restaurant, and several weeks after uploading the receipt.

I went to Mere in Charlotte Street last night based on seeing @JDB recommending it earlier on in this thread and have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed it! The tasting menu was really good, and they don’t charge for still or sparkling water either.

Went to Orelle in Birmingham last night, £175 for two mains, sparkling water, one bottle of wine and one desert. Great views of the post-industrial landscape with decent service although we felt we were being rushed somewhat. Mains arrived suspiciously quickly but were decent. As with a lot of places on the list I felt it was significantly overpriced. Would I go again, only if like this time I wasn’t spending my own money. Off to research Toronto and Boston now to see what my best options are to use the overseas portion. As an aside, the Harvey Nichols bar in the Mailbox in Birmingham was a good way to use that credit, some decent bin ends on at a reasonable price for HN and the tapas style dishes were perfect for a late lunch.

Can anyone recommend a halal place in London?

We ate at Bazaar Meats in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Very nice food and experience but I don’t think £150 on its own would go that far, so be prepared to pay another couple of hundred on top or do as we did and use split the bill across both our plat cards to get £300 off.

    Both credits received already too.

Would be interested to hear what you conclude about Boston. We’re uninspired by the choices and so will likely use it in Munich instead.

I think having looked I feel the same as you @Iona, we have booked a restaurant in Banff instead.

Could do with a like button! Glad it’s not just us that struggled to find something that looked good.

Sounds good. Was it buffet style or can you just order whatever and as much as you like from the brunch menu?

The credit won’t get you very far at the Louis XV – doesn’t even cover the set lunch for one. There’s also the probability of being rather underwhelmed; lots of ceremony, but in reality all gong and no dinner.

Spent £144 of the credit at Cavo in London the other day, including 4 ‘tapas’ style dishes, a cocktail and a mocktail.

Although the food itself tasted good, the portion size was tiny and we were still hungry after we’ve finished – I don’t think it’s worth the price at all.

One of the ‘tapas’ dishes was basically one averagely-sized scallop cut up into 5 pieces and they charged £20 for it.

No wonder it’s virtually empty during dinner service even when it’s right in central london.

Looks like a bevy of new Parisian restaurants have been added recently.

Any recommendations for among the included restaurants for a (relatively) cheap lunch/dinner? Not looking for a Michelin experience, more like something akin to the Ivy back home – places where I can have a couple of meals whilst visiting to use up the credit.

I’m sure someone will be along to help, but seriously, if the Ivy attempted to set up shop in Paris, they would be devoid of local clientele. The whole concept, let alone the quality is so anathema to the French. For what it’s worth, quite a few of the Ivy dishes are now prepared in the same factories as Côte, but priced at a reassuring premium.

Indeed – poor choice of words on my part. I’m not looking for Ivy-style food, it’s more the type of place I can have a solo lunch/dinner without using the entirety of the £150 credit.

Not the Gallia that’s for sure! Tiny bites of food and the dining credit won’t cover half the bill! Had all the atmosphere of a morgue last August!
