Forums Payment cards Virgin Atlantic New Virgin Points Reward+ card offer

I keep coming back to this. While its not the 30k points offer we’ve seen last year (and may well see again this year), I’m trying to understand the deal.

If I take the + Card and spend £5k before April 14th, what points do I earn?

    15,000 points = first spend
7,500 points = extra points on £5k spend before April 14th
7,500 points = standard accrued points on £5k spend

    Is that correct?

My own + card expires in May and we’ve got a large payment due out in 2 weeks so wondering if we’re better to jump now and get my wife this + card in her name, cancel mine and get ready for a possible 30k later this year to switch back.

    Thoughts?

Yes, you get 3x points instead of 1.5 points on any spend up to £5k until 14th April.

Applied for my wife (top 999 credit score) only to get a £2k Credit Limit – which is not worth the time to apply.

Mine was £5k upped to £7.5k after I questioned it last year – but even if hers doubles after challenging it, £5k is still really poor and with no option to increase further for 6 months, I have to question its value as a method of payment never mind to actually earn points.

If the past year is anything to go by, she’d earn more in “8,000 point customer care” credits due to broken equipment on virgin flights than she would from actual spending lol

I suppose it would be £4K spend across 2 statements but yeah that £160 fee and just 6000 extra points is not the best offer.
