I booked a week at a Fairmont Vancouver through platinum concierge on FHR rate. Gave them my membership number (gold), can’t see booking in my Accor account and no option to add it either. Called the hotel and they said they can’t do anything about it as not booked directly. Anyone had this before with Accor?
I haven’t booked it before – but as I understand the only way to get hotel status/points with FHR is to pay at hotel. Prepaid won’t work.
“All FHR stays are fully qualifying for loyalty points and stay credit with one condition – you must choose to pay on departure.” https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/04/25/american-express-fine-hotels-resorts-2/
I never get the pay at hotel option on FHR anymore. Just prepay.
My booking is pay at hotel, I booked over the phone not online. Going to call Amex this morning and see if they have any answers.

Amex/FHR books even some pay at hotel bookings via Egencia (its JV with Expedia) which is why earning loyalty points/benefits is sometimes excluded, even though you will still get the supposed FHR benefits. This won’t happen if you book via a Virtuoso agent like Emyr where, although you may still not get the keenest overall package, it will be better than FHR.
The FHR programme also does not specify that you will get any loyalty card benefits, so there is no comeback.
I had a positive experience with this last month – I made a prepaid booking for 2 nights at the IC Estoril via Amex FHR as I had the £200 travel credit to spend from my recent Plat sign up bonus. I wasn’t expecting to earn any IHG points/night credits due to not paying on checkout, but emailed the hotel in advance anyway (on the advice of HfP forum members!) to ask if they would kindly link my booking to my IHG account. The hotel did this, and whilst in advance of my stay my IHG account (on both app and desktop login) did not enable me to see anything other than a summary of the booking on the homepage, a week or so after my return from the trip I was credited the points and stay credits. YMMV.
