Not eligible for welcome bonus

Hi all,
first post.
i currently have the Blue British Airways AMEX, just jumped into the AMEX – Avois world and went to what i though was easy to sort, not realising that i done myself out of other welcome bonuses.

i read on the page that if i cancel my card i will be available for ‘You can get a bonus NOW on The Platinum Card IF you have not held a Preferred Rewards Gold, The Platinum Card, Green or American Express Rewards card in the previous 24 months’

has anyone tried it?
any help will be appreciated.
