Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club oneworld multi-partner Avios bookings

  • 8 posts

    Hi,

Apologies in advance for asking as, no doubt, it has been asked before – is it possible to cobble together a rewards booking using multiple One World carriers as and when the seats are loaded or, I assume more likely, do all sectors have to be booked at the one time? I am looking at something for summer 2025 and would ordinarily try to secure the outbound flight as soon as it is loaded, but this would be ahead of all successive sectors. (I imagine I am inviting a barrage of responses telling me that these award bookings are ticketed once the rules, taxes and charges and so on are checked and calculated, so the answer would be ‘No’, but I thought I’d ask anyway.) MTIA.

    You answered your own question.

You would need to book this all at one for it to be on the same booking.

Nothing to stop you booking each leg separately but they would remain separate bookings.

You would need to book at least two segments for it to be priced off the multi carrier chart.

Thank you. So that you leaves one follow-up question to Alex G’s response: could I subsequently add additional sectors onto the same booking having booked at least two segments initially?

You need to book at least 2 non BA airline flights to start with, then once booked, you can change as seats come up (paying £35 a time).

I have just booked one, and you can only do one overground leg with non connecting airports.

They recently wouldn’t let me book into one airport in Tokyo and out of the other.

We booked all in First class and biz, but done the longest sector in economy, so it’s priced at the economy price.
    140 avoid for….
    LHR-DFW – 1st
    DFE- HNL – biz
HNL-NRT – economy but hoping to get a biz flight
    HND-MEL – economy (longest sector)
    MEL- SYD – biz
    SYD-SIN – biz
    SIN-DOH – biz
    DOH- LHR – biz

Amazing value, and get to use the concord room. Also DFW-HNL is lay flat bed in biz.

pappap647, that’s an impressive itinerary and, as you say, extraordinary value.

@pappap647, looks great value. What was the cash element?

Curious to know which site you used to search for availability?

I’m still waiting on ticketing to sort that bit, but I think it will be around £1500

All useful information for me, I’m in the process of trying to book one of these for my parents.

Good tip about making sure your longest leg isn’t in First.

That’s quite a demonstration of the value to be had here @pappap647 – well done!

I’ll understand if it’s too much trouble but, as I find these round trips fascinating, I’d love to know which airlines you booked each sector with?!

Arlines are listed on pappap647’s own thread on their RTW trip.

Having done it a couple times, with another next year. All I can add is ‘Good Luck.’
If it’s possible to do a forum search, then a couple of years back, there was a ton of input on the subject.
Off the top of my head,
    You need an agent familiar
You need your PC, tablet and phone open, ready for changes
    You need pen/paper
You need alternative back up plans
    Open up Great Circle Mapper
Make maximum use of your chosen mileage….tack on a break somewhere if you can
    Be patient…very
If you have blood pressure issues or underlying heart problems…probably best to forget it.
    Again, good luck.

BA just cancelled my entire booking citing they are clamping down on people using these as RTW tickets.

See my full notes in my other thread on this matter.

Oh gutted for you @pappap647 🙁

I don’t see RTW has anything to do with it. The mileage/Avios combination you want to use is what this is about. The other OW carriers don’t stipulate you can’t go RTW, as far as I am aware.
    Call again.
