If I was to pay for seat selection in business but then decide to change my flight to a completely different destination would they use what I would have paid and just charge the extra if it’s more?

I understand you can “change flight” but not sure if this means I can completely change the booking

I also understand seats are non refundable when cancelling

Anything you pay for your seats is lost if you change your flight.

If you choose to change your booking to fly to an entirely different destination, that’s a cancellation and new booking, so you would forfeit any fees paid for seating. If you simply change to a different time/date you can transfer the seating value to an equivalent type seat or pay more for a better type. You don’t get any refund if you choose a lower value seat on the new flight.
