Forums Other Destination advice Paris hotel summer ‘25 for a family of 4 – any recommendations?

  • 3 posts

Hi all, looking to take the kids to Paris in the middle of August (!) to do the sights.
Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel that’s not a tourist ripoff? Kids are 9/12 so family type room or a couple of doubles would do…
Will use the force and drive there so we can do a bit of Normandy too so any top tips on parking would also be most appreciated!

    Cheers, N

I can’t be specific but I would stay personally outside Paris and travel in on public transport.

Depending on what your kids like, there’s a charming hotel with family rooms at Parc Asterix, park entry is included in the price. It won’t be cheap in August, but it should be less eye-watering than Disney!

My OH is taking his dad to Normandy in June and they’re staying at the HIEX just outside Caen which is reasonably priced for France. There’s free parking there, though I’m not sure if that’s what you mean?!

We have settled in the Novotel Roissy Saint Witz for our trip to Parc Arterix this summer. Perhaps that will suit you for your journey into Paris. Leave the car at the hotel and take the train into Paris

If you want to be right in the centre this perhaps won’t work, and I should add I haven’t actually stayed yet… but we are also over there as a family of four later this year and I booked Melia La Defense. Because of Melia Gold, which is probably quite common to have here, a connecting room was the same price as small family rooms elsewhere. Metro directly outside, into the centre in 10 minutes.

I have no idea what the prices will be like in the summer, but for a really way out suggestion, we stayed at Mob House a couple of weeks ago. It’s near the flea market so just outside the périphérique but very easy public transport access and near to Montmartre for lots of good and reasonably priced restaurants.

Obviously Feb is a quiet month, but we had a large suite and connecting room for under €200 total. It’s really comfortable and a proper hotel albeit with a very industrial look designed by Starck but for summer has the plus of a really nice huge courtyard plus a pool. Restaurant Feuille de Chou very good quality.

PS it’s Hyatt / Mr & Mrs Smith if that makes a difference!

    +1 for Melia La Defense.

Stayed there a couple of times, most recently in Feb, and is my go-to choice of hotel in Paris. Located right next to a metro stop on Line 1, which goes direct to many Parisian landmarks. Brilliant view from rooms, especially on higher floors facing the Eiffel Tower.

Price is reasonable especially if you have Melia Gold (eg through Amex Plat) which gives 20% off.

I believe it has its own car park as well, but I’ve never used it.

Also, if you’re planning to drive quite a bit around France, you might want to consider a toll tag. I’ve got mine through Bip&Go recently and it’s a lot more convenient going through tolls and in some car parks.

Goes without saying that Accor hotels are prolific, so do check them out. You would likely qualify for the second room at half price deal which can offer good value.

Not taking into account the car, we had a great family (2 x double beds) stay at the
Crowne Plaza République: every metro line imaginable, but also a really
buzzy area on your doorstep, with the canal just seconds away for
    gorgeous walks and dinners.

Parking at hotels in Paris is not cheap, so if planning on driving as it seems to be the case, then consider hotels in Saint Cloud, Issy-les-Moulineaux to the South West or Noisy-le-Grand to the East as all three will have good Aparthotels or family rooms with free parking. They also have easy connections into the centre of Paris.

Hilton La Defense. Within a mall complex which we preferred as our kid was much younger.

Plus I’m sick and tired of tiny Paris hotel rooms.

Sorry for the delay in replying but thank you all very much for your suggestions!
I shall look at the costs and then run them past SHMBO.
    Thanks again,
