Paying Car Loan Lump Sum with Barclaycard

Hi,

I have to make a lump sum payment to clear a Santander Consumer Finance loan for a car.

I am given the option to pay by credit card, rather than bank transfer / direct debit.

Is it likely that Barclaycard may have an issue with me using my Barclaycard to pay off the loan, to get some Avios?

I’ve done this previously, and specifically to Santander. I had a sizeable balloon payment to pay on my car a few years ago, and split it between the Virgin MC and Barclays avios card. No issues paying with either (though I think it needed a phone call to Santander), and got me a load of points plus the associated vouchers.

*I also paid the monthly payments for 3 years with a points-earning credit card!

I paid off my car finance (VW) using my Barclaycard. No issues with that and all points credited

Toyota / Lexus both allow monthly payments (not AMEX unfortunately) and the final balloon payment by credit card

Thanks everyone, I wish I had realised I could do the same with monthly payments before now. Lesson learned!
