The upgrade part is the part scratching my head, i’m sure I read somewhere that it was 2-4-1.5 basically

No, that should only be if using as a 241 – though one reader did post they were charged 50% extra points on an upgrade recently. This may just have been because it’s a manual process and the agent made a mistake.

Rob’s article explains how it should work.

Yes, got it! So 55k on the way out, 55k on the way back and bump to UC? my head is fried. haha

That’s what I’m hoping for NAS. My seats should be released early May!

I will be ringing Monday April 22nd to book the premium out for 19th March 2025 and then again on Weds May 8th for the return on 4th April 2025

If you’re upgrading the return, why not book the outbound online? Then you only need to call once.

Yeah I suppose there is zero need to ring for the first leg is there – only reason I can think of is to clarify the upgrade for the week back and ensure correct

Just looked at different between PE taxes and UC taxes for UVF to LHR, 1516.40 xcd for P,E 2472.20 xcd for UC assume I pay the difference between the two… when using voucher to upgrade

Yes correct, you’ll pay PE taxes for one way then UC taxes for the other

So for NAS-LHR one-way, I’m looking at 55k points and £812 in UC for 2 of us (upgraded with the voucher)? That feels like a pretty good deal, even taking into account that I’ll have to book separate seats back up to MAN on BA.

I’m using half a BAPP 241 for MAN-LHR-GCM, then avios for GCM-NAS (economy, only 90 mins), then ultimately back to the UK on VS. I’ll then use the other half of my BAPP on a later trip, possibly using the Barclays voucher for the outbound leg.
