Just a happy note that, either by accident or design, I’ve been able to change my Premier Inn booking for Gatwick North slightly more than I presume was the intention. Originally booked for a pre-flight overnight in November ’23, which was rendered useless when Norwegian pulled their MIA daily service, reading the T’s & C’s I pushed the non-refundable booking to May ’24 hoping to find a use for it somewhen, and have just been able to rebook, again, to Dec ’24, beyond the year expiry originally mentioned.
As I say, not sure if accidental software thing, or happy that when rebooked it becomes a new booking and can again be extended by a year, but anyway, very happy. Even better, price for new dates is lower than original booking, so also being refunded a few pounds. It may not be the Sofitel, but is perfectly acceptable for an overnight, and I’ve always found staff to be very happy to help with previous booking adjustments re who’s checking in and when, and although I presume not guaranteed, this kind of flexibility makes me like them even more…
I do this quite often with “Standard” (cheap non-refundable) rate rooms, I think the time limit is 18 months from the original stay date (not booking date), so quite useful if you know you’ll stay one day. If I I have to move a booking I usually look for a cheap Sunday night as a holding date until I know when I’ll need it.
