Does anyone know if the rule was if there is points availability then voucher can be used.
I have been struggling to use my recently issued Creation voucher and perhaps as it was issued manually there has been a change on the backend as to when it can be used.
I spoke to IHG and they keep saying either it needs to be under 40K points (normally they eventually agree thats the Chase one and in theory should be no limit on mine). Or they say the reward nights for points and credit card free nights are not the same. A hotel can be available for points but not Free night voucher.
Anyone know anything about this issue or have the original Ts and Cs that say its any time there is points availability the voucher can be used instead.
As a side note the Intercontinental at the Venetian in Las Vegas appears to not allow any night of the year even when rooms are as low as 28,000 points.
Is that even allowed?
It’s not the exact same rules for points and free nights, even though they often correlate.
When does your voucher expire, and how are you trying to book it? Booking on a computer gives you longer validity than doing it in the app!
Also you need to start a new search from scratch for each different booking to show correct availability.

2) you’re using the IHG appI just checked a random night at the Venetian (12 March) and they would be delighted to have me stay using my Creation free night voucher.
Happy to check any specific problem nights for you if the app isn’t the issue.
Thanks so much Froggee for checking. My voucher must be broken I have been trying to get this point across to them for a couple of weeks now.
I have been using the IHG website.
Interestingly it does show as free on the night I want on the results page along with the other hotels but once you click through to the hotels room choice page it says:
”Your preferred rate is not available as requested. Please modify your stay dates or select from the available rates.”
I get this message on all dates.
I have also tried now the 12th March 2024 and same issue shows as free but when I click to hotel it says rate not available. Points that night are 28k so I find it impossible that they dont have Free night available!
Please can you double check you can get past the room choice page using the free night?
If so please can you check Feb 17th then I will be fully prepared to follow up with IHG as currently that sells at 106k points and only as part of 2 nught stay making it even harder to convince them I should be able to use the voucher…

I thought those Vegas fancy resorts had left IHG? Or did they come back again?!

So I tried a Holiday Inn in Glenrothes next week. (Nobody in their right mind would stay there in January). It worked fine.
Then I tried the Regent in Hong Kong which will be well past 40,000 points. It was fine.
Venetian can be booked fine with points.
So I expect there must be some weird quirk with that hotel and the free night voucher.
Is there something in the Ts and Cs which excludes use at any kind of “resort” property?
I experienced some difficulty using my last Creation free night voucher. The Crowne Plaza in Amsterdam showed as unavailable when I looked at the website from Italy. From the UK, I was able to book normally.
