Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Qatar Airways award availability opening

    Hello all,

I am trying book the return portion of my SEA/AU trip next year. I have been having some problems with award availability being released. As far as I am aware, it is supposed to be 360 days prior that the availability is released, however, I cannot find availability past the 25th June and an agent cannot tell me when more availability will be released, only that there are 2 seats that are guaranteed to be released.

Does anyone have experience with Qatar reward flights? Trying to fly from MEL-EDI around the 30th of June.

    Thanks

Where are you looking? Its 360 days on the Qatar Airways site but ba.com won’t show it until 355 days, in line with BA’s own policy.

I’ve been checking through Qatar and BA. Weirdly the same is true for AKL-EDI, was considering that too but the release of availability is very sporadic

Fellow readers have reported Qatar has black out dates during summer holiday although they told Rob different answer.

In April and May I could barely find a day without business availability from Aus to UK and visa versa. And now looking at every day in June ane July (so far) I can’t find a single seat from Several European airports to Aus. I suspect their blocking seats but it’d be good to know for certain.

There’s ample first class availability on the a380 routes though!

I also suspect they are not making the seats available in what would be considered peak European holiday season. You can always grab availability for double the Avios if you are particularly Avios rich and can generate them relatively “free of charge” (say through business expenditure).
