Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Past Qatar flight crediting to British Airways account

  • 2 posts

Hi, I recently flew on Qatar for work (booked via corporate travel agent) and I’m trying to credit the flights to my BAEC account. Do I first need to set up a Qatar account and then transfer across or can I credit the Avios directly to my BA account?
    Thanks!

Direct to BA. Best to put the number on the booking from the start,I call the flying airline after booking if there’s nowhere when I book online.

In theory you can add a frequent flyer number at various points after that such as when you check in online or in person, at the desk when you go into the lounge and sometimes even at the gate, but it’s best to add it asap.

For BA/OneWorld Alliance bookings, and Qatar is ib Oneworld alongside BA and others, often you can open the booking using its 6-character reference number, on the Finnair or Royal Jordanian websites and add your number there (try and see if it will let you reserve a seat if you want to, while you’re in there too!

Be aware that you can put your membership number from any Oneworld alliance airline, onto a booking with another Oneworld airline, and the same within the Star Alliance and also within the SkyTeam alliance for theifr airlines.

PS corporate travel agents if you have one, are mostly happy to keep a record of your various frequent flyer and hotel membership numbers and will add them to any booking they make for you autonatically these days.

the system has lost an edit about beware tier points that I can’t retype again on my phone but look at wheretocredit.com, remember you can move avios between some programs as in Rob’s article today but tier points matter if you want status and those you can’t move.
