Your problem with Qatar is very frequent equipment changes between booking and flying. So you might choose a seat but find it all changes.
Alongside that Qatar is developing a reputation for flight sçheduling changes and sometimes we’ve had reports of people receiving a cancellation from Qatar – but actually the flight’s still flying. Or a differently numbered new flight, that they’re not on, has now appeared in the schedule, say, 5minutes from the flight Qatar told them was cancelled… and yet they’re not rebooked to this ‘new’ flight. They are put on a flight on a different day by Qatar or at a far, far worse timing.
Hence I will never pay extra to choose a decent length or timing of layover at Doha on Qatar, as there’s a high risk it gets changed by Qatar to the cheaper nasty timing I’d paid to avoid. Without recourse to get Qatar to refund the difference with the higher price I’d paid, nor to replace with decently timed flights.
And do your research on seats but don’t assume it’ll stick.

Just pick your preference of near the window or in the middle
