Qatar upgrade with Avios

Has anyone had any experiences of being offered an upgrade using Avios on or before departure with QR? What’s the cost like if so?

I have MAN-LUN booked for Oct in Y. Have around 250k Avios just sat and wondering if it’s worth waiting until then to upgrade these flights with Avios or just to book something else to “burn” the points?

I have been offered this during the pandemic and the Avios cost was IIRC around 45K for the Lon to DOH sector however these may have changed since as I can see that their J cabins are nearly full more often that not.

They have offered me Edinburgh to Doha for £550 or 40k avios and £220 last week.
I didn’t do it and then the day before checked again and it was double that.
Not sure if thet is good value or not ?

Presumably that is one quarter of your journey.
