-
I am planning to get my first Amex card and I got a friend referral for the Amex BAPP. However according to one of your blogs, I can opt in for the Amex Gold (Bonus 30k Avios) as my initial credit card instead, and then apply for a Premium Plus later and still get its sign-up bonus (another 30k Avios). How is that possible? I am trying to search the Terms about their exclusivity in rewards but I couldn’t find it.
From this blog:

Hi
If you read the rules for the BAPP card on the Amex website it will explain why you can do.
Rules are summarised here – https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/09/18/what-amex-sign-up-bonuses-are-you-still-eligible-for-4/
You need to get Gold first. If you get the BAPP first, you would then be disqualified from the Gold SUB.
Read the articles under “Credit Cards” at the top of this page for the full explanation.
I see! Thank you both for your response.
Another question. Would I qualify for a credit card if I just moved into the UK for work in less than 6 months?
That’s not something anyone can answer on here really.

This is all based on luck and probably who you are. I know a few people who managed to open an Amex within the first year of being in the UK as uni students. £1000 credit limit, though.

If you have Amex in another country, you can do a global transfer. A uk Amex card will be issued based on your credit history in previous location.
Otherwise, highly unlikely you’ll get a credit card that quickly. Register to vote, update utilities bills with your current address and hope the history builds up.
