Hi, I appreciate this will have been asked before but I am just about to book seats on a club world flight to Japan with my OH so time is of the essence and I can never find anything via the search function.
I didn’t want to pay extra for the seating and have Bronze status so looking to book as soon as the seats open up in an hour or so
I guess the coveted configuration for a couple would be the 2 seats together facing each other by the window, however looks like all these pairs of seats are already gone. Would someone be able to recommend if it would be better to have 2 forward facing seats separated by the aisle or an aisle seat and a middle seat?
Thanks again
Joe
2 forward facing seats separated by the aisle = you’ll both be face to face with a window passenger seated backwards
or an aisle seat and a middle seat = you’ll be face to face with one another, albeit the middle passenger would step over the feet of someone other than you to get out of their seat.
I didn’t quite understand your timings for selecting seats as a Bronze. bronzes get access to doing so 1 week prior to departure. Whereas you only seemed to be booking the flight today.
Sorry, I should have been clearer the flight was booked months ago but it’s next week, it was the seats I was having to choose today, but not left with a lot of options. Will probably just go for 2 aisle seats at least then we can both get direct access.
I maybe should have paid for the seats when I had the chance but think it’s a bit cheap of BA to charge extra on top of a business class fare, but seems most people are willing to pay that given the seats are mostly booked already.
Will be glad when Club Suite is rolled out as the CW configuration isn’t great. I actually had a better experience last time I flew CS than I had in first!
I have the same question as we are flying on a 789 as bronze later in the year.

Is the optimum for a couple not a staggered config like:
– 6A – 7B window pair
– 6E – 7D centre pair
This means one of you isn’t clambering over (or being clambered over) by a stranger in the night?
If you keep the divider up, you don’t have to look at a stranger if you end up in that configuration. I think it’s accepted that if you don’t know the person in the next seat, it’s not rude to put it up between F & B service! Though one year en route to GCM, there was a woman next to me who was downing glass after glass of Chardonnay and slamming the divider very loudly each time she was served, I don’t know if it was a comment on having to sit next to me 😂. She disembarked when the plane touched down at NAS, I was quite surprised that she could actually stand up after 9 hours continuous drinking.
… seems most people are willing to pay that given the seats are mostly booked already.
I think BA have a lot more people with Silver status now, as they have been giving double tier points with BA holidays.
Also, I think some corporate travel agent bookings come with free seat reservations.
Would be interesting to know how many people pay to reserve a seat in CW, but I suspect it is not that high.
