Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Reason for cancelled flight

  • 50 posts

My BA flight was cancelled. I’ve read that on Expert Flyer or something similar they post the reason. I can’t find it, any ideas?

Also as I was booked on an alternative flight over 24 hours later I can claim on my travel insurance. However they need the original booking invoice with dates, cost, travellers and confirmation of the cancellation/delay. The BA website I can’t find what’s bpneeded. Is it there or do I have to phone them?

BA has stopped posting the reasons on Expert Flyer

I suggest instead searching or asking on this thread over on FT

As for receipt try entering your PNR on the Finnair website – they can email you a copy.

I think when it comes to it, your insurer will expect you to claim what you can from BA before they consider paying any balance. If you claim for cancellation compensation (I don’t know if you are eligible) as well as your ‘right to care’ expenses, then BA will tell you, if it denies the compensation, the reason for claiming ‘extraordinary circumstances’ which will then provide you with the reason for your insurers, although it seems from your post that they are only asking for evidence of the cancellation rather than the reasons for it which there should be no expectation of your having the ability to ascertain.

Thanks AJA. I had little faith in the Finnair website as I was on a BA flight but WOW (a very useful tip) it was all there apart from the price paid which should be of no use to my insurance claim BUT…

Also to JDB, yes I’m just claiming for an over 24 hour late departure with no claim for BA.

On that basis, your insurer should simply want the cancellation and rebooking details. I’m surprised they don’t ask you to claim compensation which they might offset against anything they might pay you.

BA have a well hidden form to get confirmation of cancellation which should satisfy your insurer:

Thanks Froggee. Boy that don’t make it easy. Without this I’d be clogging up their call centres.
