Hi all – scratching my head after I successfully redeemed my 241 vouchers
Looking at my Avios statement – I’m seeing a ‘Household Redemption:Contribution received’ item appearing as a credit on the same days I rang BA to redeem my 241 vouchers. Any ideas what this is?
So for my first call I booked the outbound journey with my 241 and can see the correct amount of Avios deducted for the flights along with a credit for Household Redemption for 38,444.
Then two weeks later, I rang again to book the return and for this date, the original Avios for the flight was credited back and the new updated amount debited – all as expected … in addition the first Household Redemption amount of 38,444 was debited and a new Household redemption amount of 46,079 was credited.
Oddly though .. my total Avios doesn’t seem to include that 46k Household Redemption amount (at least according to my maths) – sadly the BA Avios statement doesn’t show a running balance which is super annoying.
As long as the final figures are right, don’t worry. It’s BA’s new way of deducting avios pro rata from all the accounts on your HHA.
Cheers …
So the flight amounts – i.e. Avios needed for those appear as a line item and describe the flight details so that’s clear and dandy.
It was this odd number against Household Redemption I was seeing that threw me. Do I get Avios for the taxes I’m paying for the flights? I wonder if I should ring an agent and then have then talk me through it.
You’ll get avios if you paid the surcharges with an avios Amex! But that’s nothing to do with BA, it’ll show up on your Amex account once the payment goes through.
aah ok – thanks, and yup I used my BA Amex to pay for those blasted surcharges.
As for the other thing, I think it makes sense now. I see that the 46k Avios came from my wife’s account (HHA) – I can see activity there on her statement … and then when that amount was deposited to my account, the full flight Avios amount was then deducted.
I was thinking I got lucky and somehow they glitched it and gave me 46k Avios for free … sadly not the case!
Cheers again NorthernLass
