All,
Just did a transatlantic BAH trip that got my 1,500 at the start of my collection year. However while I was able to achieve Gold in the runoff period, my status expires in 2024 – so just to the end of my current year. I did do the flights 2 weeks after my points collection year ended on 08 Aug. Have I just stuffed myself or has BA IT incorrectly calculated this?
Dates:
08 Aug – collection year ends (tier points reset to 0)
15 Aug – first leg taken
09 Sep – last return leg taken
20 Sep – BAH double TPs posted and triggered 1500 TPs
30 Sep 23 – old card expiry date
30 Sep 24 – new card expiry date
So to be clear, I was expecting:
– Gold for the remainder of my membership year (i.e. Sep 2023 until Aug 2024)
– AND for the full following year (i.e. Sep 2024 until Aug 2025)
Tried the Exec Club number but they were not helpful – even saying you only get status for the year you gained it – which is not true.
Is this on me or BA – and if the latter, any ideas on where I can escalate this?
I think it’s just the way BA show things. I suspect if you look at your account on the BA app it’ll say “You have retained Gold”, so although the expiry date is the end of the current year then you’ve already qualified for next year and come August 2024 it’ll update to show the expiry is 2025

I’m not so sure, app shows me tier points collection end March 2024, card expiration April 2025.

Yeah unfortunately my partner who took the same flights as me and has her year end in May has her status until Jun 2025!

Was hers a requalification for Gold or a promotion from Silver…….have seen reports that these two scenarios can update differently so wonder if it’s that.
This is an anomaly in BA’s IT.
You have qualified for status in the about 6 week period between your new membership year and the expiry date of your card. In this scenario your card expiry date is not extended at the point the status is earnt (so still shows 2024 for you). You should have the “You have retained Gold message” in your Tier Point tracker and at the end of your current year (i.e. 8/9 Aug 2024) the card expiry date will be extended to 2025 and remain at gold.
I have personally been in this scenario at least twice previously and not had an issue with the correct status period. Once was last year. BA correctly extended my card expiry date in January when they did the bulk processing of reduced tier point qualifications, so I didn’t have to wait nearly a year (though have done previously).
Hope this helps
I saw on FT that there seems to be an issue for some people who get enough points for status via the double points offer

There is an issue if you book using a GUF2 voucher. The booking will show tier points being awarded according to the class of travel but they are actually awarded at the class purchased. Whrn I used a GUF2 last year the points were awarded as predicted. I travelled MAN/LHR/DXB return and was predicted 360 on my Exec Club account but awarded 220. I emailed BA two weeks ago and haven’t heard anything since.

the issue being it shows wrong, or they only get status for one year? I know BA’s IT is bad, but I hope they are not cheating folks out of a year of status!

If that’s the case then all good! Thanks for sharing – hoping this is the case rather than having to fight BA in a year’s time.

Wasn’t a GUF2 voucher unfortunately. I did get double tier points on the BAH trip as expected.
