Hi all. I remember a while ago Rob writing about this scheme operating in Europe, it now appears it’s come to the UK, yet so far I’m surprised to not see any chatter about it.
As a a pretty heavy tax payer (inc business taxes) it could be lucrative, has anyone any experience to share?
Jim
It has been talked about:

Excluded merchant types:
financial services, payment services, or any other liquid or cash-like services;
cigar and tobacco purchases;
tax, fines, penalties, support payments, or other payments to or required by a government or judicial entity;
lotteries or gambling;
utilities;
charitable, religious and educational organisations
The shops boosts at the moment are interesting.
20x Qatar
20x Apple (tracks immediately on gift cards)
20x Morrisons (which stacks nicely with their codes)
That’s on top of the usual points as well.
There’s also a 10,000 point boost for spending £2000 in the first 90 days on ultra as well.
By the looks of the cancellation terms for ultra, if you cancel just before the first month is up theres a £45 penalty bringing it to £90 in total (provided you dont get the fancy metal card delivered).
I had a big spend with one of the boosted merchants coming up anyway so I’ve taken the dip.
Apparently if you cancel within 14 days they will claw back the points but I think you’re fine after that.
