Reward flight cancellation, when will voucher and Avios return?

I just cancelled a reward booking online. I was expecting that the Barclays Upgrade voucher and Avios used for the booking to be returned to my account instantly, but either has been returned.
If I called to cancel, would the voucher and points be refunded instantly?

Called BA and spoke to a very helpful agent. Was advised that the Voucher and Avios should have been returned instantly, but there was a backlog. All sorted and a new booking (using the voucher) has been made.

That is very helpful! It took me weeks to get a cancelled 241 voucher back recently, I contacted BA 4 or 5 times and was told each time it would take (another) 7-10 working days!

There are definitely problems getting some vouchers back. Check your account if you’ve recently redeemed and cancelled.
